I know what you’re thinking- if I live down south what the heck do we need with snow boots? Well every now and then, we get those wonderful, surprise snow visits. This past year we happened to get them in March- school got out early, and we watched and waited for it to show up, and when it did, well we got our garbage can lids out and started sledding (because us Southerners don’t own sleds).

Anyway, I always buy some snow boots for my kids just to have on hand incase it gets ridiculously cold or snow. Now I admit some years have gotten more use than others, but this past year I bought Lands’ End Snow Flurry Boots for my oldest, and I’m planning on getting a pair for my youngest this year as well, because I was really pleased with the quality and performance of these boots.

These boots right now are priced for $25.50, but in the summer you can find them on closeout, unfortunately I couldn’t find them in my youngest child’s size then. They come in toddler sizes 5-8 and then whole sizes 9-13 and then in youth sizes 1-7. They have solid colors such as pink, blue, purple (we have a pair of those), olive green, navy, red, orange, and blue. This year as well they have started doing those with the faces (like the one you see here- it’s red with a bunny face on it) but they run for $29.50, plus my kids are over that ‘cutesy’ type of thing, so we stick with the regular colors. Might I add Lands’ End also carries coats that matches these boots well.

These boots have 400 gram Thermolite insulation on the inside, and they have a great ‘Open Wide’ system that allows the front of the boot to open a couple of inches wider than conventional boots, then they shut with Velcro on the sides. The Velcro is really strong and does not come open at all when moving around.

They have a really good amount of padding inside, and these boots are mid calf length. Even though these have a good amount of padding inside, they aren’t so stuffed that you can’t fit your kids feet in them. They also have a great amount of insulation in the shoes.

Overall, these boots are highly recommended- I really don’t see why you should buy any other brand- these are so much easier to deal with when getting kids dressed with the wider opening system. These boots keep feet warm and dry and they are waterproof. No complaints here at all!
