I’m always looking for a liquid soap that will work well with my daycare children, have a good smell, pump easily and isn’t too expensive.

I have found that foaming soaps seem to be the easiest and least messy soap that 3 year olds can handle on their own. Since I am teaching independence I want a soap that 3 year old Cindy can use without too much assistance and without a huge mess when she is done. I have reinforced that we use just one pump, which I think is plenty for a small child’s hand.

DIal Complete Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash with Lotion is a foaming soap that works for us very well, my only complaint would be that at times the pump itself is a little difficult to push down.

I chose the Cool Plum scent mainly because I liked the color of this soap and it went with my bathroom better than other scents but it is also available in an orange Original scent, green Fresh Pear and yellow For the Kitchen. I didn’t smell these scents so can’t really say how good they smell. The Cool Plum has soft sort of plum smell that lingers only for a short time on my hands. It smells fresh and clean and is a scent I don’t mind having on my hands.

The container is a clear plastic bottle that has clear pump on the top. I like that as you push the pump down you can see the foam come up through it. This helps my daycare children know that they don’t have to keep pumping and pumping to get the soap, they can see that it is getting ready to come out of the pump.

I don’t usually buy antibacterial soaps and do think our immune systems need some germs in order to fight off diseases that are out there, but with young children who mouth things, exchange saliva without even knowing it and in general will put most anything in their mouth, dirty or not, I do feel a bit safer using this soap and feel that they do kill off all the germs that they have picked up as they play.

Handwashing

I am really surprised as I read the directions on the package of this soap that it recommends putting a pump on to dry hands, lather vigorously for at least 15 seconds, rinse and then dry hands.

I always have the children wet their hands first so that the soap will lather well and I feel work better at getting their hands clean. Okay, so I had to just try it and surprisingly it does work very well to put the soap in to dry hands….I would assume that there is enough water in the soap to make it lather well on dry hands.

I do think this soap leaves my hands feeling soft and moisturized a bit and since I wash my hands many, many times a day I like a soap that has a bit of lotion in it as this soap does.

Ingredients

The only active ingrendient in this soap is Triclosan, an antibacterial. The top five inactive ingredients are water, sodium xylenesulfonate, dipropylene glcol, glycerin and sodium PCA.

My Feelings

One of the things that I really like about this foaming soap is that you can purchase refills for it. Many foams do not have this capability and rather than having to keep purchasing new containers I can refill the soap…which with the 6 children I’m caring for we can go through very quickly. This saves me money and I’m always happy with that.

I like the smell of this soap, the way it lathers either on wet or dry hands and I like that you can see the soap coming through the pump.

I do wish the pump would push down smoother. Sometimes you have to push it just right to get it to come out, but the only one that seems to have much of an issue with it is a 3 year old, so it isn’t a big con to me.

At under $2.00 I find this 7.5 fl oz container to be a bargain and that I can refill it makes it even better!
