First off, I am a huge fan of Steve Madden shoes. I bought my first pair about five years ago and haven’t looked back. Although we have a Steve Madden store in my local mall, I have managed to avoid it. I am a die hard TJ Maxx and DSW shopper (why pay full price if you don’t have to, right?), plus I work for Macy’s - can you say discount?
Needless to say, in the last five year, my Madden collection has grown quite large. I have not only the straight Steve Madden’s, but the Steven by Steve Madden and the Madden for Girls shoes as well. No Steve is safe from my feet:)
Anyhoo, the Steve Madden Astoriaa was one of the first pair of Madden’s I owned. Even though some shoes come and go with the seasons, I still wear this shoe on a regular basis in the summertime. I have the beige-gold colored ones, which tend to go with a lot of my clothing.
The shoe itself is very comfortable. I have never gotten a blister or any other “foot sore” from wearing them. The shoe is slightly padded, adding to the comfort. However, I have run into one problem. Since my feet are slightly different sizes, one shoe seems much larger than the other, and slides around a bit in these shoes. This, of course, can make walking a bit difficult, as one of my feet slides to the side when I wear these shoes. The style of the shoe does not give much support to hold it in, so the tendency to twist my ankle is there.
The Astoriaa is a platform wedge, which I absolutely love, as I am a short girl. This adds a few inches to my height and I can wear it with longer jeans without having them drag on the ground. I definitely recommend this shoe to anyone on the shorter side.
Although I don’t believe you can find the Astoriaa in stores any longer, I have found it on E-Bay. The listing states the Astoriaa is a wedge heel sandal, made of leather, wood and rubber. No matter which color you get (and it comes in several, most notably the beige I own or a darker brown), each is trimmed in a nice gold color. The platform itself is 1 inch, with the heel rising to 4 1/2 inches (again, great for my height!). The platform is made of wood, with the sole being rubber (makes for a more comfortable walk) and the upper part is leather.
The shoe itself, like all of my Steve Madden’s, is of great quality. It still looks fairly new, even after a few years of wear and tear. The only thing I have noticed is a few strings becoming detached from the leather straps. But, otherwise, they have held together well. I anticipate many more years of wearing my Madden’s.
Overall, this shoe is one of my favorite Madden’s I own. I would recommend it to any girl who needs a cute sandal with gold accents. I have received numerous compliments on the shoes the many times I have worn them. Although I have a tendency to trip when wearing them (especially when intoxicated), I think it has more to do with my feet than the shoe itself. So, get yourself a good pedicure, get on E-Bay, and find yourself a pair of Steve Madden Astoriaa’s. Your feet will thank you!
