I purchased these sandals from Lands End a few months ago, and have been waiting for them to be added to the database so I can review them. Thanks so much to Melissa for adding them for me!
Description
Lands End refers to these sandals as “Slides”, because they are slip on sandals. When I saw the description at the Lands End website, I had to give them a try.
These sandals are called the “Trello”, and are made of a rubber material, with a foam rubber insole that molds to your foot, similar to memory foam, but much firmer.
They are all one solid construction, except for the insoles, which look like they are set into the bed of the sandal, yet they remain flush with the rest of the foot.
There are 21 square holes, Lands End refers to these as “port holes”, which allow air to circulate through to keep your feet cool. They don’t mark floors, and the soles are naturally slip resistant. The info from the site also claims that these are antimicrobial and odor resistant.
Sizes and Colors
The sizes are unisex, meaning they will fit either men or women. They don’t come in half sizes, and I normally wear a 6 1/2 to , depending on the style, and a size 7 fits me perfectly.
A woman’s size 6 is a mens size 4, and the sizing chart reads: 6 (W6/M4), 7 (W7/M5), 8 (W8/M6) 9 (W9/M7), 10 (W10/M8), 11 (W11/M9) 12 (W12/M10), 13 (W13/M11), 14 (W14/M12) 15 (W15/M13). The “W” is women, and the “M” is men.
They come in a variety of colors, including black with a blue insole, brown with a tan insole, orange with red insole, khaki with green insole, olive drab with orange insole, true navy with yellow, white with black, blue with light blue, and red with orange.
Thoughts
From the color descriptions, you can see that these come in some pretty wild colors. They were also available in plaids earlier in the season, but I don’t see those on their site any longer.
I don’t go for the wild orange and red combinations, so I purchased the brown with tan insole, but the brown is more of a dark tan, not really brown at all, in my opinion.
The heel area is raised up a good 1/2″ to cradle the heel and help the sandals to stay on the feet. The rubberized insole goes from the toe to the heel, but contours inward near the arch, and at the instep there are small 14 small bumps, which I assume are for massaging the feet, but they don’t really do anything, so I’m not sure why they are there.
The sandal isn’t flat. If you lay it on a flat surface like a table, you will see that the toe and the heel both curves upward, but these are very comfortable sandals to wear. They stay on the feet without my digging my toes in with each step (yes, I have some sandals that I have to do that to keep them on!), and they are extremely light weight, which I love.
The bottom of the sole has nine sets of relaxed “S” shaped grooved curves, which are more shallow near the heel, and dirt will get imbedded in these grooves. The Lands End name appears near these in the middle of the bottom of the sole.
I have a lot of sandals in our walk in closet, my husband always tells me I have too many shoes. Some of my sandals are $70 Naturalizers and even more expensive Earth shoes, but I have been wearing these Lands End Trello Slides the most this summer. I have them on right now. On a chilly day I just put on some thick socks, and my feet are warm and comfortable.
I love to wear these outside when I do yard work, because if they get dirty, I haven’t ruined them. A simple spraying off with the outdoor hose is all it takes to clean them off, and they dry very quickly.
I am always saying how much I love these sandals and how comfortable they are, that now my husband wants me to order him a pair! Truly, they are super comfortable, even when I wear them with bare feet. No rubbing, no pinching, and my feet are surrounded by soft flexible rubber.
I find their claims of these being odor resistant pretty true. I never smell much of anything coming from these, but I do my socks on occasion, and they don’t have the chemical smell of rubber either! I really love these sandals!!
These retail for $19.50.
