The strong scent of lavender usually does not appeal to me, but vanilla does. During Bath and Body Work’s semi annual Sale in June, I noticed this particular fragrance in a 75% off bin. How could I resist sampling the scent? I didn’t, and was rewarded with an amazing fragrance!
Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Lavender Vanilla Body Wash is a “sleep” blend. The scent of lavender oil is used therapeutically to induce relaxation, reduce anxiety, and to help balance the mind and body. The specific fragrance Bath and Body Works has created really appeals to me.
There is the presence of slightly herbal lavender which is muted with soft vanilla. The resulting bouquet is soothing and gentle, and I wanted to be enveloped by these hypnotic notes. I couldn’t wait to use this in my large whirlpool bath.
It’s a body wash, but I decided to add gel to the running water to fill my bathroom with the calming aroma. I turned on the jets to boost the frothy bubbles and stepped in to my Lavendar Vanilla oasis. I relaxed for a while in the warm softly scented water, and breathed in the essential oils.
I felt like I was floating, as the busy day just seemed to melt away. I imagined lying in a secluded meadow on a breezy summer morning surrounded by honeysuckle, white clover, and sassafras.
(Okay, I’m rolling my eyes at that one too! But, I’m inspired by the Lavender Vanilla hand cream I just applied from the same Aromatherapy line)
I probably could have fallen asleep, but reluctantly began the task of finishing my bath. I poured a generous amount of bath wash on my shower pouf and worked up a lovely lavender vanilla lather. The wash is very creamy and feels moisturizing. No need to use a shaving gel if you’re using this body wash — it provides enough emollient without the need for an additional product. It rinses clean and doesn’t leave a residue.
Didn’t want to, but I climbed out of my tub and wrapped up in a fluffy white terrycloth robe. I was disappointed that the scent was faint on my skin, but it still filled my bathroom. I felt as if I had been to the spa. Not bad for an investment of $3.45 including tax!!!!
I opened the bathroom door, put on some comfy pjs and climbed in to my soft bed. Hubby noticed and liked the scent which was drifting in from our bathroom.
Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Lavender Vanilla Body Wash is a clear golden gel, contained in a rectangular plastic bottle with a flip up lid. The packaging reinforces the therapeutic spin and is reminiscent of something you’d find at an old fashioned apothecary. The label is presented in sedate tones of lilac and lavender with simple font. Very cohesive design to suggest a calming experience.
You can purchase 10 oz for $13.00 from your local Bath and Body Works store, or you can purchase from their online website. At 75% off, I regret that I did not fill my bag with additional bottles. But, if I remember correctly, there weren’t too many in the bin. I would imagine this is a popular item.
I went back to Bath and Body Works to enhance the effects of the body wash, and purchased body lotion (great), hand lotion (good), and pillow mist (disappointing).
I will definitely continue buying this body wash because it’s a pleasant way to wrap up a hectic day! Although, I don’t hesitate to use it in the morning too and look forward to a little pampering before the start of another busy day. Must be that mind body balance thing — my mind and body are definitely out of sync when I wake up at 5:30 am!
Since this is a “sleep” blend, does it work? Well, to fall asleep, you need to feel relaxed. So I would say, yes at least for me, this product works. I would also admit that a warm bath without this wash might be just as effective, but why not indulge a little?
I will definitely continue buying this body wash for the tranquil and fragrant scent, the way it makes my skin feel, and for the reasonable price. Since I like to layer products, the complementary products really seal the deal.
This product contains essential oils, other natural fragrances, and green tea extract. Product is not tested on animals. The entire list of ingredients isn’t posted on the website, and I finished off my last bottle of body wash so I can’t add this to my review.
