Being my favorite ice cream flavor, I love the taste of mint chocolate chip. However - wonderful as it may be - it is rather odd having my calcium taste like a refreshingly sweet and creamy spoonful’s worth. On the contrary, as my daily supplement routine primarily consists of my taking of an unappealing Flintstones multi vitamin, it is an entirely welcome concept for my supplements to actually taste good.
Viactiv Soft Calcium Chews in Chocolate Mint - individually wrapped in purple foil - are packaged within a dark purple cardboard and plastic container. My container contained 60 chews, the price ranging somewhere in between 7 and 8 dollars. This is a little higher than I am accustomed to paying for calcium.
One chew is the equivalent to one serving. However, two chews will fulfill ones daily calcium and vitamin K needs in entirety. Two chocolate mint chews provide 100% of ones recommended calcium and 100% of the recommended vitamin K. 50% of the daily recommended amount of vitamin D is also provided. As each chew contains only 20 calories, I am not troubled with worries of dietary disarray.
Each chew is a smooth chocolate brown color, smelling strongly of chocolate and mildly of mint. The texture is chewy, very reminiscent to the texture of toffee. The flavor is wonderful as it is a full bodied chocolate flavor, stronger than your typically weak milk chocolate. It is pleasantly tinged with a sweet mint flavor. Very agreeable are the two tastes put together, tasting very much like a mouthful of mint chocolate chip ice cream. I have no problems consuming two chews daily; it’s a pleasure.
The calcium and vitamin D within the chews work hand in hand preventing fractures and osteoporosis while strengthening the bones. Personally, I have no idea what the vitamin K is for. However, as vitamin K is a necessary nutrient within the body, I therefore have no objections of it’s presence within the supplements.
Overall, Viactiv Chocolate Mint Calcium Chews are very tasty and my consumption have caused no problems within my body. I feel as if I am doing very good by my bones, providing them with much needed calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin K. Highly recommended.
