Some of my most comfortable sandals are made by Naturalizer, and my husband has purchased them for me. I remember when he bought me these sandals, we were shopping in the 5th Avenue Mall in Anchorage Alaska, and I saw these sandals in the store front window.

They are available in a variety of colors, such as the white pictured here, as well as black and the camel color I have. At $65, they were more than I personally wanted to spend on a pair of sandals, but we were out celebrating our anniversary, and he insisted that I get the ones that I wanted. I’ve had mine for a few years now.

Description

These are a very simple design, the sandal slips onto the foot, with a wide leather zig zag style strap covering the top of the foot. The insole is nicely padded and very comfortable, and there is just a slight heel on the sandal to give it a dressier appearance. These are available in whole and half sizes from 5-11.

Thoughts

These sandals are perfect to wear with shorts, pants or even a casual jean skirt. The leather upper is made of a soft supple leather, and the rubber sole gives good traction and allows the sandal to bend in half easily. I love the way the sandal bends with me when I walk, which really makes these super comfortable to wear when shopping or spending a day on my feet.

These sandals are referred to as “slides” because you simply slide your feet into them, there are no buckles or straps or ties to secure. I am partial to shoes that easily and quickly slide on and off.

I have found Naturalizer shoes and sandals to be quite true in sizing, I usually wear a 6 1/2 or a 7, and a size 7 in this Roper Sandal fits me perfectly. I am a short person (no SHLEP jokes please), and am only 5′ 1 1/2″ tall, and although I appreciate shoes with heels of more than 2″ to add to my stature, I can’t wear these kinds of heels for very long as they really hurt my feet. These sandals are a nice compromise, they have about 1 1/2″ of heel that gives me a little more height, without compromising comfort.

One nice thing about leather shoes is that the leather actually breathes, where as cheaper plastic materials simply make my feet sweat, and my feet will stick to the plastic. These leather sandals have been worn in very hot weather, yet remain comfortable.

Have you ever noticed that your tastes change over the years? Mine sure do. When I purchased these, I was attracted to the stitching along the entire sandal. It reminds me of a whip stitching, or as some people call it a blanket stitch. However, after owning these for a few years, I no longer find it as attractive as I once did. I was also afraid that the stitching might catch on something and become frayed or even break, but that has not happened. The stitching on these sandals looks as good now as the day I bought them.

Out of all of the shoes and sandals in my closet (and there are a lot of them), I have few that I can honestly say are comfortable enough to wear for several hours at a time AND look this dressy and attractive. They would be suitable for casual dress with jeans, as well as a dressier outfit such as a skirt or jumper.

I think that Naturalizer still sells this same sandal, so it must be a very good selling item for them, and I can understand why. I’ve had nothing but good luck with these and find them extremely comfortable and require very little “breaking in” time.
