Although not exactly what I expected I am impressed with my Phillips Satinelle. What I wasn’t expecting was the pain of first time use. Imagine several tweezers yanking the hairs from your legs at once. That is the feeling of first-time epilating. I got through it though and so can you.
What I liked was the massaging roller, that once you learn to place properly against your skin eliminates a lot of the pain. It holds the skin down so it does not feel like it is yanking so much. Several minutes into the process, when I had mastered the device and was prepared for some pain it became a lot more comfortable. I find it to be a lot less painful than waxing. With subsequent use of the epilator I have found the sensation to be more of an annoyance than actually painful.
Does not always remove every hair. Unlike other reviewers I found it took several passes to remove some resistant hairs and some extremely short hairs did not come out at all, but were removed the next day with ease.
No more daily stubble. This is one of the best points of this product. I was a daily or at least every second day shaver. Since I began using the Satinelle my legs are stubble free for days, even up to a week, and there is less hair to remove now that I have been using it for a few weeks.
Loud. It does seem quite loud for such a small device. It brought the kids into the room to see what I was doing. I have gotten used to it though.
The price to me (59.99) is reasonable considering the price of razors and shaving gel these days It is worth every penny for the convenience of not having to run to the washroom to shave if I want to wear shorts or my husband suddenly decided to become amorous;-)
I also appreciate that it can be used on very short hair. I am not the type to wait around for 1/2 inch leg hair in order to wax so the Satinelle was perfect.
I would highly recommend the Satinelle to anyone who is tired of constant shaving and doesn’t like the waiting to wax. It offers long lasting hair removal and convenienc for a reasonable price.
