I own a pair of these I got recently at a Shoe Warehouse going belly up sale. This recession is hard on people, especially in the retail business, but the opportunity to take care of my feet for the next several years for 10 Cents on the dollar is always an appealing one. I do the church thing evry Sunday, and I do try to look professional at school ,even though I prefer to walk the classroom in my Converse All Stars whenever possible. That’s one reason these shoes were appealing to me. Available in Black and Brown (anyone know whatever happened to Ox Blood/Cordovan?) these offer me the option of simply slipping them on or off w/out the lace out lace up blues.

I find that the build quality vs. price ratio is definitely to the customer’s advantage on most of the Skechers line, and that is probably one of the many reasons why they are so popular across the many spectrums of age and socio economic cultures. These particualr shoes tend to epitomize what Skechers are all about. Here’s the lowdown.

For your money you get a quality leather upper. It’s definitely quality leather here. No it’s not world class as you might find on some high end offerings from your better boot makers, but it is definitely a few cuts above the trash you usually find in this price range. THe insole is durable and well built, but if you like suer arch support, you may need to add an after market insole/gel pad. The sole is a sturdy composite material that flexes well, and lasts a good long while too. Some of the other shoes I bought at the same time, even though they come from upper end makers, are already showing more heel wear than these. The stitching is definitely of above average quality, and the composite sole, though glued to the shoe and not stitched, shows no loosening from the upper structure whatsoever.

Skechers definitely represent one of the better values in the shoe market. A lot of bang for the buck. I’ve paid more for shoes that did not last half as long, nor look half as good.
