When it comes to body wash, my husband doesn’t really care what I buy for him as long as it’s not too flowery, feminine, or smell like cake or candy. Well, since many of my favorite body washes fall within this realm, it usually means we usually have our own separate bottles. The one exception is Bath & Body Works Energy Aromatheraphy Orange Ginger Body Wash. This one is a favorite for both of us ever since we first encountered it at a Marriott Hotel several years back.
Product Details
Orange Ginger Body Wash comes in a 10 ounce plastic bottle with a black plastic flip top that reminds me in its shape and design of an old-fashioned apothecary bottle. Its regular price is $13, but I never pay that much as it’s periodically on sale, for about $5-6, at either the Bath & Body Works store or their website. And from what I have heard, the Marriott is still supplying this body wash to their guests, so be sure to take your extra mini bottles home with you.
The body wash has a light amber color and has a medium gel-like consistency. It pours easily from the bottle, except for the last ounce or two when it just about empty. Because the plastic bottle is somewhat rigid, we find it best to store it upside down in our shower caddy when it gets to this point.
What makes this body wash so pleasing to both sexes is its fresh energizing scent. It’s the perfect blend of orange and ginger, with tangy citrus notes intermixed with the sweet woodiness of ginger. This is Bath & Body Works “Energy” scent in their aromatherapy line and it fits its description perfectly, as one whiff of this in the morning certainly energizes the senses.
Our experiences
Sometimes I’ll get a body wash that will be drying for my husband’s skin and when that happens, he lets me know. I’m happy to say that Orange Ginger Body Wash does not draw any complaints from him. When it comes to body washes he just pours a bit on his hands and washes away - no shower sponges or loofahs or any other foo foo washing devices. Even with this method, he still gets a good quantity of lather.
As for me, I do use my shower sponge, and the experience is even better as the lather is considerably more. The fresh invigorating scent fills the bathroom for a wonderful aromatherapy experience. I, too, have no problems with residue or any itchiness. In fact, this continues to be one of my favorite body washes, not only because of its wonderful scent, but because it is such a great performer, without the harshness or drying of some body washes I’ve used.
Sadly, the scent doesn’t stay with me on my skin, but of course, I buy the companion lotion and hand cream as well, so no worries! If you love the scent as much as I do, I’m sure you’ll feel compelled to do the same.
