Gum that is good for you, who would’ve known? This company prides itself on using xylitol as the sweetener in this gum (instead of aspartame, sorbitol or maltitol) and it is supposed to help with oral health. It says that 8 to 10 grams of xylitol per day is shown to help improve tooth health (and prevent decay). There is .72 of xylitol per piece, so that would mean one would have to have at least 11 pieces per day or have other products containing xylitol (like mouthwash).

The taste is great. It tastes so fresh and real and that’s because it has natural spearmint oil in it. It has a “crunchy” outer layer and you chew it up until you get to the gummy inner layer.

Ingredients:
Xylitol, gum base, spearmint oil (natural flavor), vegetable glycerin (humectant), gum Arabic (texturizer), non-GMO soy lecithin (emulsifier) & beeswax (glazing agent).

I chew gum for a number of reasons. It helps freshen my breath. It helps in between meals when I cannot brush my teeth. It’s fun to chew and I love the taste. It helps my saliva production, which is also helpful for digestion. It’s also good for my teeth and gum health and exercises my jaw. Gum helps release nervous tension, I can chomp down on it for awhile. It also helps with any cravings, if I have gum in my mouth, I’m less likely to eat (the mint oils doesn’t make food taste too good for awhile), and it helps me not grab things like candy which would be worse for my health (because it’s satisfying). Reminds me of Chicklets (the size and crunch to it). I wouldn’t say this gum lasts a long time like Extra (maybe 30 minutes or so). It’s small and you need about 3 or 4 to feel like you have a good mouthful, but only 1 is needed to sort of freshen up breath real quick.

I buy mine at a local health food store, but it is also sold online at http://www.vitacost.com (where I also buy a lot of my supplements) for $5.48 per container of 100. I expect this container to last me 3-4 weeks or longer (for one person) and that would be having several pieces per day. The calories are almost non-existent at 1.7 calories per piece. I feel better about using xylitol than maltitol or sorbitol (causing stomach issues like bloating, gas or other issues), and Aspartame (an artificial sweetener).
