I first saw Bath and Body Works Temptations Twisted Peppermint scented products during the winter holiday season a few years ago. I curiously steered my stroller into the store to take a whiff, and was immediately impressed with what my sniffer found: It smelled just like yummy peppermint candy canes! But how well would a body wash, bubble bath and shampoo combo product actually work? I bought a bottle to take home and test out, and here are the results of my ‘experiment’.
The Package and Cost
Twisted Peppermint 3 in 1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo comes in two sizes: A miniature 4-ounce bottle which would work well for travels (I have no other idea as to why someone would choose to spend $4 on a tiny bottle), and a full-size 16-ounce bottle that runs about $10. Both sizes are white bottles with red tops. The label features a large picture of a striped peppermint candy and the name of the product in red lettering. The product is dispelled by popping open the easy open/close top and gently squeezing the bottle.
The Product
The wash/bubble bath/shampoo is a thick white liquid. The consistency is a bit thicker than Bath and Body Works shower gels but not gel-like in viscosity. It smells just like peppermint, so it’s a great choice for the Christmas holiday season.
How it Works
Bath and Body Works Temptations Twisted Peppermint 3 in 1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo is used in a few different ways.
As a body wash:
Apply a roughly quarter-sized dollop of the product to the palm of your hand and rub across your body, or use a mesh sponge to work up a lather and then apply to skin. It lathers reasonably well, but the smell is what’s truly impressive: As the bottle says, it’s candy canes gone wild in your shower. It rinses clean, but leaves my skin feeling a little dry.
To this day, I’m sorry I didn’t buy the Twisted Peppermint lotion that day! Once I went back to the store to buy some a few weeks later, there was nary a bottle to be found. You really do need the lotion if you want the delicious pepperminty scent to last beyond your shower, and to keep your skin from feeling too dry.
As a bubble bath:
While your bath water is running, pour a few capfuls of the product into the water to create bubbles. It makes your bath smell truly yummy; be careful to monitor younger children carefully. It really does smell good enough to eat.
As a shampoo:
Wet your hair, lather and rinse as you would with any other shampoo. It does clean hair just fine, but I wish there were a conditioner available since it does not effectively moisturize. My hair is too dry to use just a shampoo, and once you’ve used a conditioner, the peppermint scent is gone. To me, there’s little point to using a peppermint shampoo in the first place if your hair won’t come out of the shower smelling minty.
The Brass Tacks
Bath and Body Works Temptations Twisted Peppermint 3 in 1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo is one of the best-smelling shower/bath products that I’ve ever used. Downsides are that the scent doesn’t last long and tends to die out rather quickly after use. However, purchasing the body lotion and using that in conjunction with this product will prevent these issues from being a problem.
This is a seasonal product, so look for it in November or December and enjoy the sweet experience for yourself!
